Villa Stella   Summer

The site is the land on the southern slope at the foot of Mt. Asama.
A small babble flows in the premises, and there is a faint water sound comfortable to the ear.
The owner was looking forward to living while observing astronomical objects, talking with friends in nature, making this house the last house after retirement.
In designing this house, it is not just a house for a hobby, so it was the theme how to incorporate this astronomical observation dome into everyday living space.
From the viewpoint of eliminating transmission of vibration isolation performance and living temperature for the observation of the dome, we judged that integration with wooden building should be avoided, treat the dome as an independent detachment, I decided to place it at the highest place of the site.
Then, the main building was placed on an axis orthogonal to the slope passing through the center of the dome, and the end of the main building was opened as an outdoor living so as to associate the building with the dome so as to capture the space spreading around the dome.
The main building was placed so as to be perpendicular to the contour line, but in order to reduce the basic structure
, the tip of the building was largely lifted with a chianti lever and shaped to protrude toward the valley.
Configure skip floor in the interior of the house along the slope, the lower floor around room and water, as upstairs is capable office while looking at the dome in front with Japanese-style versatile applications, the upper portion of the living I set up a study just like a ship's steering room.

Currently, in Karuizawa Town, it is obliged to attach over 50 cm of eaves to the roof over 1/2 gradient in the landscape ordinance, so we take this positively and gable wall roof with the eaves further larger 1 M As the theme
.Considering the climate of Karuizawa which is humid in the wall, a special moisture permeable waterproof sheet is used on the outer wall side and a ventilation method using a variable humidity control sheet is adopted on the interior side. Furthermore, instead of using plywood for structural bad breathability, we devised a special brace that is effective not only for compression but also for tensile force.
And in consideration of the expansion and contraction due to moisture, the outside wall of the outer wall adopted a sticker board of the Karamatsu.
Finally, as the whole building came up as a wall construction like this, a wide girder was placed on the top of this wall, and a roof frame was built on it.
With the white dome, from the time when I visited this premises for the first time to make this architecture a beautiful white one contrasting with the surrounding greens, the image emerging there did not change from time to time.
And the revealed girder is reminiscent of Greek architectural architrave, and aesthetics emerged that makes image of Western architecture's Order somewhere.
As a proof of wisdom for construction.
